Patients with worn-down tooth enamel, chips, gaps, stains or minor issues with alignment can often benefit from the application of dental veneers. These restorations are thin, custom-made shells that are placed on the front surface of teeth in mask imperfections.
Dental veneers are easy to apply, and they can make an incredible difference to the look of one’s smile. People have used veneers to address issues with worn-down enamel, discolorations and problems with spacing and alignment.
An added benefit of veneers is that they look completely natural because of their ultra-thin profile. Teeth treated with veneers will function normally, and the patient will be able to proudly show-off their smile to others.
Madison Family Dental is proud to offer many types of veneers at our practice, including:
Veneers are perfect for people with tooth enamel that is worn-down or damaged. And since veneers can also adjust the thickness, contour and color of teeth, they have a variety of useful applications in cosmetic dentistry. Best of all, the results are immediately visible following their application.
We offer veneers that are created from advanced stain-resistant materials that prevent them from becoming discolored over time. While veneers can be cared for and maintained in largely the same manner as untreated teeth, patients should make sure to avoid using any abrasive toothpastes or hard-bristled toothbrushes. Most veneers remain intact for about ten years before being replaced.
Applying veneers is simple. We begin the process by removing a small amount of the tooth enamel. This helps to ensure that the veneers will fit properly. Next, we clean the teeth and remove any buildups of tartar and plaque. We then dry the teeth and use an abrasive etching gel to roughen their outer surfaces. This will allow the veneers to bond easily with the teeth. Finally, we apply the veneers to the surface of the teeth and secure them using a strong adhesive. We will finish by evaluating the patient’s overall bite and making sure that the veneers are secure.
